Sanitation & Recycling
The Village of Dorchester contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection & Recycling. Everyone within the community is required to have garbage collection, which is picked up on Wednesdays.
Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service days. You must call Bel-Con Refuse and notify them of this first. Please note, there may be an extra fee. If assistance is needed or you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
As a reminder, if you are questioning if something is acceptable or not, it probably isn’t!
Items that will NOT be picked up or allowed in trash containers are: wet paint containers, motor oil, antifreeze, lead acid batteries, fluorescent bulbs, household hazardous waste, waste oil, tires, major appliances, ashes or any item that could cause a fire.
Yard Waste must be separated from your trash from April 1st to November 30th each year. Lawn clippings, leaves, and garden waste constitute as yard waste. Woody branches or twigs, you can dispose of with your regular trash year round.
For questions specific to trash pick up, please call the Village office directly. We will direct you to Bel-Con Refuse if need be.
We now have a recycling trailer at the dump site and is only available during dump site hours.
